Goods in Transit
The Goods in Transit system enables you to record warehouse transfers and produce the necessary paperwork. Visibility is maintained since the entire transaction is tracked from start to completion. Stock is depleted from the source warehouse at the time of confirming each line of the transfer. At the receiving warehouse, a simple review facility enables receipt of transfer items based on selection criteria and processing of exceptions based on the security settings assigned to the receivers. A cost multiplier percentage or value can be applied to receipts to take account of transport costs.
The queries and reports enable monitoring of transfer items, and reconciliation of transfers between source and target warehouses as well as reconciliation of transfer values to the General Ledger. The result is a transparent, audited, documented procedural approach to goods in transit.
An immediate transfer facility is also provided.
Supply chain transfer orders in sales order entry enable you to reserve stock for transfer at a later point in time and provide demand and supply input to SYSPRO’s Distribution Requirements Planning feature.
Load Planning
A delivery frequency is associated with each route (for example, every 7 days) as well as the number of deliveries that can be made on a single day. You associate a customer order to a route based on the customer (or warehouse, in the case of a Supply Chain Transfer order) and as each specific line is added to the order, the appropriate route detail (load) is calculated. This calculation is based on the required delivery date, or on the delivery date calculated based on the availability of stock and load capacity. You also specify a route delivery distance (or sequence) against a customer to indicate the order in which the load must be delivered. The loads are managed by initializing them for a selected period ahead, which can be reviewed. Several reports are available to assist in the planning and monitoring of loads.

Distribution Requirements Planning
Companies in either the wholesale or manufacturing sectors which have regional demand fed by one or more supply warehouses, or manufacturing plants, would typically use Distribution Requirements Planning. The integration between SYSPRO’s Inventory, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Bills of Materials, Work in Progress and Requirements Planning modules provides a comprehensive view up and down the supply chain.

Discounts and Rebates
Against a customer you can specify which of these discount codes to use against each sales order entry line and which to use for the total invoice amount. The discounts defined here can be used when a stock item’s pricing method is set to discounted if the simple or extended pricing method is used. If the inventory item has a pricing method of Discounted, then the system applies the line discount as part of the price and not as an additional discount.
Alternatively you can enter a manual line discount on a sales order line by selecting Discount when you add a line in the Order Entry program. The system will prompt you to enter up to three chained discount percentages, a total discount value, or a unit discount value. When the order is complete, the order discount will be applied.
Another discount method that can be used is the order discount break which can be applied on either the sales order line or the whole invoice, as an alternative way of extending discounts to a customer.
The percentage discount breaks enable you to vary your price according to the quantity or value of items in the sales order. A maximum of 30 discount breaks can be defined for each type of discount selected.
Settlement discounts can be assigned to a customer which must be applied when that customer makes a payment within a specified time period.
Forecasting
Linked Sales Orders, Purchase Orders and Jobs
If using the Quotations module, you can quickly raise the customer order and the supplying jobs and/or purchase orders from a single point of entry when confirming the quote. If the Quotations module is not in use, the planning and purchasing departments can easily raise the necessary build and purchasing orders via SYSPRO’s various review or trial kitting facilities once the customer sales order has been entered. Optionally, sales order staff can be given the necessary access to raise the jobs at the time of entering the customer order. The link between customer order, manufacturing and procurement provides visibility and enables progress tracking throughout the life of the order.

WCF Hardware Distributors
WCF Hardware Distributors has been the leading distributor of cabinet hardware and furniture fittings for over 20 years. Their product offering includes handles and and cabinet hardware furniture fittings.
The Challenge
Stock theft and spiraling labor costs can have a significantly negative effect on the bottom line of any organization, particularly when high volumes of stock are involved. In an effort to reduce stock theft, streamline processes, eliminate stock takes and reduce labor costs, WCF management took a decision to automate their entire bulk warehouse.
The Solution
WCF undertook the mammoth task of building a 1,864 m2 ‘dark warehouse’ from the ground up. The building can house 6,000 pallets comprising about 7,500 line items. The entire process, from the layout and construction of the precisely level concrete floor to the specific design of the pallets, revolved around the installation of robotics to ‘man’ the bulk warehouse.
The Result
Extensive consultation with SYSPRO resulted in the development of an integrated ERP and automated warehouse management system that operates in a ‘dark’ environment and requires minimal human intervention. This mechanization has resulted in an increase in accuracy as human error is eliminated.
